Lyons and Fitzgerald win Audi Ireland quattro Cup
SEAMUS Lyons and Mark Fitzgerald emerged victorious at the Audi Ireland quattro Cup National Final at Mount Juliet Estate.
The pair will represent Audi Ireland at the World Final in Kitzbühel, Austria from the 23-27 September, where finalists from 47 participant countries compete for the title.
The national final saw the six highest ranking teams from eight regional qualifying heats go head to head in the decider of the amateur golf tournament.
Established in 1991, the tournament attracts 100,000 entries worldwide each year, making the Audi quattro Cup the largest amateur golf series in the world.
Qualifiers from the Audi Limerick heat, Lyons and Fitzgerald racked up 47 points to win by two points from Clement Hehir and Tom Barrett, who emerged from the Audi Cork qualifier.
Tom Tuohy and Mark Tuohy, who also qualified from the Audi Limerick event, claimed third place with 44 points.
A total of 96 golfers in 48 teams took part in the final which was attended by a number of official Audi Ambassadors including Ireland and Leinster rugby stars Rob Kearney and Garry Ringrose.
Fellow Audi ambassadors, Galway hurling star Joe Canning and Mayo footballer Aidan O’Shea, were also in attendance and enjoyed a round of golf alongside the finalists.
