AT A GLANCE

-

MAN OF THE MATCH Aiden O’Brien (Millwall)

Callum O’Dowda and Shaun Williams impressed, but Aiden O’Brien is not quite an out-and-out striker and still he managed to lead the line quite well and score on his senior debut. That’s a good night’s work.

MAGIC MOMENT

The trick and flick from O’Dowda that opened up the Polish defence to create the goal for O’Brien was a fine moment.

It showed that this Irish group does have some good players with the technical ability to hurt opponents, although O’Dowda still needs to be tested in this position in a competitive game played at full tilt.

CROWD WATCH

There was a decent turnout in Wroclaw, with a couple of hundred travelling fans making the trip and visible around the city throughout the day. All the best local seats were filled up, with the only deserted sections around Row Z territory. There was a reasonably good atmosphere by friendly standards beforehand, but the volume dropped in keeping with the game’s tempo.

WHAT NEXT?

The focus shifts to Dublin and two games in the space of four days against Denmark and Wales next month. The Aviva Stadium double header will really lay out the mood for the rest of the year.
