From faux furs to tartans and tweed: Autumn collection leaves lasting impression
COSY faux furs, striking animal prints, tartans, tweeds, monochromes and an homage to glorious gems and jewel tones formed the backbone of the new AW18 Arnotts womenswear collections showcased at the Henry Street store yesterday. The Irish customer can be a truly global traveller – as the brand offer in store features a raft of international labels, from US favourites such as Ralph Lauren and Michael Kors to respected European brands like Marella, Gerard Darel, Luisa Cerano and Hobbs. Of course there are also top class Irish brands such as Caroline Kilkenny, Niamh O’Neill plus Magee and Triona who are both new names to the Arnotts brand family this season. Triona, a family owned business, plays to the strength of Irish heritage and its multi-check coat (€535) was one of the head-turning looks in the opening Town & Country sequence. The Irish designers were responsible for some of the most memorable looks, from O’Neill’s stunning blue devore velvet dress (right) to Caroline Kilkenny’s ‘Dee’ full-skirted blue dress with maribou feather pocket trim. Exciting new brands this season include DmN, a sassy Belgian brand founded 30 years ago. Winning looks from DmN included a striking copper tone coat (right) on a ribbed black base (€760). Special occasion wear or for the mother-ofthe-bride who doesn’t want to look like an ‘MOB’, the coat looked terrific over a black satin jumpsuit (€240) from Marella, a well-priced brand laden with some classic gems for AW18.
