‘I love baking, I make a mean Victoria sponge’

1. What boots do you wear and why?

Adidas Kakaris. Anything with eight studs.

2. What’s your pre-training routine?

Get a good meal in or a smoothie, if I have time a quick coffee as well to perk me up.

3. You’re in charge of the aftermatch tunes, what goes on first?

4. Imagine a world that you’re not a rugby player – what’s your job?

I would like to have been a farmer as my grandad farmed and I loved being there as a kid and helping out.

5. Stranded on a desert island, what three things do you take?

Sliced-pan loaf, thick-cut bacon, Ballymaloe relish and hope to God they have tea there.

6. Which team-mate would you want with you and why?

Not Conor Carey because he will eat all my sliced-pan loaf, thick-cut bacon and Ballymaloe relish.

7. What was your favourite book as a child?

Any of the Famous Five books, I always loved them.

8. What’s your first sporting memory as a player or spectator?

Skinning one of my mini rugby coaches Paddy Allen up the wing, when I was a wee chunk and being told I was ‘fast’.

9. You have one moment from your career to do over. What is it?

I can’t think of any.

10. What rugby skill would you most like to possess?

Being able to burn people with speed.

11. Favourite song lyric?

‘Oh hit the diff and pray that she goes all the way, when I’m flat to the mat with the party hat, when I’m heading for the tay.’ Hit the Diff by Marty Mone.

12 What current player in your position do you most admire?

Guilhem Guirado.

13. What former coach has had the biggest effect on your game and why?

Derek Suffern, he coached me at Ballynahin­ch for a good few years.

14. What was your first car?

I drove my mum’s Renault Megane for a few months when I passed my test but my first car that was my own was a Volkswagen Golf, no turbo on it, if wouldn’t pull you out of bed.

15. What sporting event makes your bucket list?

Going to a Carl Frampton fight or to watch a Lions Tour, preferably against New Zealand.

16. One minute to go in the Champions Cup final, your team are four points down back on your own line. What do you do?

Give it to Tommy Farrell and let him do his stuff.

17. What was the last concert you went to?

Old Dominion and Thomas Rhett, I love a bit of country.

18. Tell us something interestin­g about yourself.

I’m a feeder when it comes to food, I love baking and I make a mean Victoria sponge cake.

19 What’s your best memory playing rugby for your team?

None yet since I joined Connacht but hoping to create some!

20 Who’ll win the 2019 PRO14, Champions Cup and Rugby World Cup?

Connacht. Exeter and hopefully Ireland.
