Adare Manor joins ‘world’s most interesting’ destinations

-

THE new Adare Manor is very special but it appears that a visit to the Limerick resort is now regarded much more than just an extraordinary stay and play experience.

In common with paragliding to your hotel in Oman or having breakfast in the shadows of Mount Everest, a round of golf at Adare Manor has just be included in something called the “CHAD CLARK CERTIFIED 25.”

The “25” is described by the PR company that promotes Adare Manor as “an initiative to annually list the world’s most interesting and exciting travel experiences.”

Clark is “a luxury travel advisor” and in 2014, he began “certifying” unique experiences he considered musts for travellers, curating a list of hotels, restaurants, tours and hands-on encounters that go well beyond the norm.

According to the PR men, the awards have also been dubbed “the travel equivalent to the Michelin guide for restaurants.”

Estimates on exactly how much the Limerick businessman JP McManus has lavished on renovating and extending the hotel at Adare Manor and getting Tom Fazio to redesign the golf course designed by Robert Trent Jones Snr vary wildly and given the standard of the facilities, it would be no surprise if the figure was well in excess of €100 million

It’s certainly a unique venue and the owner has made no secret of his ambition to host the Ryder Cup.

The Carriage House, which is the name given to The Golf Course at Adare Manor’s luxurious clubhouse, is something to behold. But whether tucking into the full Irish breakfast there is comparable to trekking through the Himalayas or navigating Antarctica on a Russian icebreaker is something we have not yet had the chance to find out.

The breakfast is first class that’s for sure but we have to take Chad Clark’s word for the second part of that equation.

Adare Manor CEO, Colm Hannon, was certainly delighted by the accolade, commenting: “This is a wonderful recognition for Adare Manor and the game of golf itself. To be named alongside some completely unique and wonderful experiences is fantastic to see.

“For Chad Clark to describe us as ‘the perfect golf experience’ is an outstanding endorsement of our approach.”

Clark said: “Not only is the hotel and its facilities first class but what Tom Fazio and his design team has done with the golf course is truly breath-taking. Any guests lucky enough to go to Adare Manor will definitely have the experience of a lifetime.”
