Connacht prop gets six weeks for stamp

-

CONNACHT prop Dominic Robertson-McCoy has been hit with a six-week ban for stamping on Leinster’s Josh van der Flier in last week’s interpro in Galway.

Having been shown a red card by referee John Lacey, the New Zealander admitted the offence and was handed an initial 12-week punishment.

However, the disciplinary committee led by Kathrine Mackie halved the duration of his suspension as a result of his admittance of guilt and previously clean record.

He will be free to play on November 18 and has the right to appeal.

Meanwhile, Connacht’s Irish lock Ultan Dillane says there is every danger of a backlash tomorrow when they take on an Ulster side coached by Dan McFarland.

McFarland played a key role in Dillane’s development, working with him for several seasons when the former prop was forwards coach with Connacht.

“He was brilliant here, his attention to detail is something else and we will have to be ready for what they will bring,” said Dillane.

“He always had good coach qualities so it was no surprise he became a head coach.”

The 24-year-old said that Ulster will be gunning for a response after their record 64-7 drubbing away to Munster last weekend, but he stressed that they too were determined to bounce back after a home loss to Leinster.

“They will definitely be pumped after the weekend they have had but no game is an easy game this season.”
