Khabib challenges Mayweather to fight
KHABIB NURMAGOMEDOV has challenged Floyd Mayweather to a showdown, telling his fellow undefeated fighter: “In the jungle there is only one king.”
Nurmagomedov extended his perfect professional mixed martial arts record to 27-0 and retained his UFC lightweight title with a fourthround submission victory over Conor McGregor in Las Vegas last weekend.
McGregor made a brief foray into boxing last year to take on Mayweather, who moved to 50-0 in the paid ranks by stopping the Irishman in the 10th round of their highly lucrative showdown.
Former multi-weight champion Mayweather was unable to knock McGregor down, which Nurmagomedov did in last Saturday’s bout at the T-Mobile Arena before forcing his bitter rival to tap out.
And in a video posted on Instagram by Mayweather CEO Leonard Ellerbe, Nurmagomedov said: “Let’s go Floyd. We have to fight now: 50-0 versus 27-0.
“We are two guys who never lose. (But) in the jungle there is only one king. Of course, I am the king because he cannot drop McGregor but I drop him easily. Let’s go.”

INDIA beat West Indies by 10 wickets in the second and final Test to complete a 2-0 series win in Hyderabad. Having been bowled out for just 127 in their second innings, the tourists set India a target of just 72 for victory.
Some fine bowling by Umesh Yadav, who took four for 17, and Ravindra Jadeja (3-12) put India firmly in control.
Opening batsmen KL Rahul and Prithvi Shaw rattled off the required runs in just 16.1 overs to seal a second successive victory inside three days.
RUGBY LEAGUE
WIGAN kept their promise to send coach Shaun Wane out on a high as they ground out a fifth Super League title with a 12-4 victory over Warrington in an error-strewn but compelling Grand Final.
Winger Dom Manfredi, only recently back from more than two years out of the game with a career-threatening knee injury, was the Warriors’ bloodspattered hero with two of his side’s three tries.
The Wigan players attempted to play down the sentimental factor in the build-up but the tears at the end of an absorbing contest told a different tale as they joyously celebrated with Wane, who will now go into rugby union with a third Grand Final ring.
