AT A GLANCE

-

MAN OF THE MATCH

Pione Sisto (Denmark) Granted, he did flatter to deceive at times but the Dane was responsible for some of the game’s better moments.

MAGIC MOMENT

There was no magic moment, but we might have been delivered with one if Jeff Hendrick had stuck away his early chance after the Danes stopped play. Martin O’Neill admitted afterwards that Ireland would likely have stepped aside to let their guests score from the restart.

STAT ATTACK

Possession: Ireland 36 Denmark 64 Passes completed: Ireland 225 Denmark 530

Shots: Ireland 3 Denmark 15 Yellow cards: Ireland 4 Denmark 1 Fouls: Ireland 13 Denmark 14

CROWD WATCH

A strange atmosphere, with the FAI handing out stacks of free tickets to schoolboy clubs, so there were a lot of young faces in the crowd. With little to excite them, the soundtrack of the game was chatter rather than anything resembling an atmosphere. The official attendance given was 41,220 but it looked like quite a few opted to stay indoors for the second half.

WHAT NEXT?

Ireland welcome Wales to the Aviva Stadium tomorrow and will need to give the punters who have actually paid for tickets a bit more bang for their buck. Denmark play a friendly with Austria; their turn for a Nations League double header is next month, when they travel to Cardiff before hosting Ireland in Aarhus.
