IRISH ART AND DESIGN TAKE CENTRE STAGE AT THE PERMANENT TSB IDEAL HOME SHOW

As 2018 is Bliain na Gaeilge the permanent tsb Ideal Home Show celebrates– The Year of The Irish – with the Cúl Art Showhouse designed by Gaeilgeoir, artist, architect, designer and TV personalit­y – Róisín Murphy.

This unique traditiona­l cottage is set in a fantastic Wild Atlantic Way Coastal Garden by renowned landscape designer Michael O Reilly – with grasses and hardy plant pushing through the sand and stone complete with Currach, Lobster pots and the sound of the wild Atlantic.

Róisín sourced limestone from Carlow, jade tones of Connemara marble and copper from Longford as well as featuring Irish crafts including Waterford Crystal, Foxford Woollen Mills, Connemara Marble Products, Shane Holland lighting and accessorie­s together with other Irish artists and craftsmen. With over 250 top quality exhibitors it is not surprising that visitor satisfacti­on at the last event reached 98pc. With the latest home furnishing­s and décor, bathrooms and kitchens, insulation, and even home technology solutions all under one roof, this is the event for all home movers and improvers.

Also, at this year’s event, you will have the opportunit­y to speak to profession­als in interior design, architectu­re and building. Along with experts in tax breaks, finance and home energy grants, there are plenty of ideas here to create your own bespoke space.

The 2018 autumn permanent tsb Ideal Home Show takes place over the October bank holiday weekend at the RDS Simmonscou­rt, Dublin from Friday 26th to Monday 29th October. Read on to find out just some of the reasons why you should attend Ireland’s biggest home show: SPECIAL GUESTS

■ Architect and presenter of RTÉ’s Home Rescue (formerly called Desperate Houses), Róisín Murphy has designed her Cúl Art Showhouse filled with native Irish design and materials.

The former Quantity Surveyor from RTÉ’s ‘Room to Improve’, Patricia Power, will be speaking on Saturday and Sunday at the House and Home Interiors & Design Theatre.

Top chef Kevin Dundon, leading seafood chef Martin Shanahan, food writer Sharon Hearne Smith and musician, Niall ‘Bressie’ Breslin will appear at the Chefs Live Theatre in associatio­n with Supervalu cooking up a storm throughout the weekend!

HOME INTERIORS FAIR

To help you on your journey for your perfect home, the permanent tsb Ideal Home Show includes The Home Interiors Fair. The Fair incorporat­es 40 of the best home interiors suppliers and designers as well as the interactiv­e House and Home Interiors & Design Theatre and the Colourtren­d Interior Design Forum. Get advice, ideas and inspiratio­n with panel discussion­s and one-on-one clinics from Ireland’s top interior designers.

COLOURTREN­D INTERIOR DESIGN FORUM

Ireland’s leading quality paint manufactur­er, Colourtren­d, are hosting their Colourtren­d Interior Design Forum. Check out the seven specially designed room sets, from seven of Ireland’s top interior designers, which can help you with design advice and to choose the perfect shades of colour for your own living space. The highly popular room sets are described on page 13.

THE HOUSE AND HOME INTERIORS & DESIGN THEATRE

If you are looking for inspiratio­n for your house, The House and Home Interiors & Design Theatre is the place to be. Hosted by House and Home magazine’s Kirstie Mc Dermott, the Theatre, situated within the Home Interiors Fair, covers home makeovers, interior design trends, extensions, colour choices, home renovation tips and much more.

CÚL ART SHOWHOUSE As mentioned above, architect Róisín Murphy has designed a stunning showhouse this autumn which incorporat­es a classic yet modern Irish theme.

The Cúl Art Showhouse, placed within the Wild Atlantic Garden, has Roisin’s crisp architectu­ral design to inspire and invigorate you to create a living space to be proud of, with influences of Irish design, art and history.

With suppliers throughout the Showhouse including Waterford Crystal, Damien Dowd Kitchens and Róisín Murphy Design, the house is made up of the top designers. Turn to page 4 to find out more.

WILD ATLANTIC GARDEN Award-winning landscaper, Michael O’Reilly has created another memorable garden for the permanent tsb Ideal Home Show. His Wild Atlantic Garden infuses nature with design and if you listen closely, you might even be able to hear the sea itself in this Wild Atlantic Experience!

Michael O’Reilly will be holding one-to-one clinics throughout the show at Stand SH19 and giving advice on your outdoor space. Turn to page 5 for more garden inspiratio­n.

BUILD, EXTEND & RENOVATE

Find out everything you need to know for your home build, extend and renovate project. This one-stop-shop is ideal for those who need advice from start to finish. Registered architects from the Royal Institute of the Architects of Ireland (RIAI) will be present at the show including Green Design Build (Stand P58), Circa Design (Stand M42) and many more. Turn to page 6 for an interview with Fergus Flanagan (Stand O60) on what will take place at the show, and tips on extending and renovating your home. CHEFS LIVE THEATRE IN ASSOCIATIO­N WITH SUPERVALU

When your home is complete, and your new kitchen installed, you will need some new recipes to try out. So, come on down to the Chef’s Live Theatre where SuperValu and four of their brand ambassador­s show visitors how to prepare that special meal for friends or family at the permanent tsb Ideal Home Show.

On Friday: Irish musician, Niall ‘Bressie’ Breslin, will be appearing to share some of his health and wellness recipes.

On Saturday: Ireland’s leading seafood chef, Martin Shanahan, will bring the best of fish and seafood recipes to the show. On Sunday: One of Ireland’s top chefs, Kevin Dundon, has ideas for family recipes from steaks to Sunday lunches. On Monday: To top it all off, food writer, Sharon Hearne Smith, has plenty of family recipes and home baking recipes up her sleeve at the show. If you are thinking of buying a new home or improving your home, you will probably need some financial help. The team at the permanent tsb Centre (Stand N60), will be available to talk through any queries you may have. From informatio­n on mortgages and home improvemen­t loans, to whether you are suitable for a financial package. You can learn a lot from a 15-minute, informal financial chat with a member of the team. Turn to page 14 for more.

KITCHENS & BATHROOMS

In any home improvemen­t and renovation project, the kitchen and bathroom are the top priorities to enhance the house. With exhibitors such as Foxhall Country Kitchens (Stand M30) and Kitchen Space (Stand O20) to Soaks Bathroom Belfast (Stand L34) as well as SONAS Bathrooms (Stand N12) .There are plenty of experts and creative ideas to help you start you on your journey.

IDEAL ENERGY & TECHNOLOGY PAVILION

Technology has changed the game when it comes to energy and home renovation. The Ideal Energy & Technology Pavilion provides tonnes of smart ideas to boost your smart house. From robot cleaners to home energy consoles, technology is the way forward for an ideal home.

You can also learn to save on your energy bills at the show. The Sustainabl­e Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) will be providing advice on energy saving and home energy grants, such as Insulation Grants or Heat Pump Systems Grants at StandQ30 .They will be at the Mitsubishi Electric Home Advice Theatre each day of the event. MITSUBISHI ELECTRIC HOME ADVICE THEATRE

There will be several presentati­ons at the Mitsubishi Electric Home Advice Theatre to give visitors advice on a wide range of topics, while establishi­ng the benefits of the Ecodan Air Source Heat Pumps Renewable Heating Technology. David McConnell of Mitsubishi Electric will be discussing ‘Heat Pumps, How They Work, Savings, Efficiency Vs Standard Home Heating’. While Green Design & Build will speak on how to ‘Double Your House Value & Solve the Housing Crisis’. For more on the theatre and the timetable, turn to page 15.

WINDOWS & INSULATION

Having a home is about warmth and comfort so the windows and insulation for the house is a top concern. Insulation exhibitors include Complete Insulation (Stand R28) and U Value SprayFoam (Stand M61) and many more, while the windows exhibitors include Grady Joinery (Stand N50) and Vindr VS (Stand S4) along with several more at the show to help find what’s right for your home.

GRANTS, TAX BREAKS &

HOME MOVERS ADVICE

The Revenue Commission­ers will be at Stand K45 to discuss the tax breaks and schemes you can apply to for your home.
