Casey’s honesty key to his election success story

-

I HAVE been listening to and reading commentary following the election. It is impossible to read and hear everything but I really do think that these commentators have it all wrong.

I know plenty of people who voted for Peter Casey and none of them feels deprived or left behind or otherwise disadvantaged.

Every single one of them voted for him in view of his honesty and their belief that the other candidates only said what they thought would be publicly acceptable.

As one neighbour said to me: “Do we want a person in the Áras without moral courage and who will bend to the wind when difficult decisions have to be made?”

When I hear this talk about racism concerning people without a racist bone in their bodies, it annoys me intensely.

I myself voted No 1 Michael D and No 2 Peter Casey, simply to show support for him.

I ask myself: Should I really bother listening to or reading any of these professional, well-paid commentators on other issues when they are proving themselves so wrong on this particular issue? Anthony Hanrahan Renvyle, Co Galway
