Charity calendar tribute to late Miss December

- Ralph Riegel

THE launch of a nude charity calendar has been dedicated to its Miss December – who died just six weeks before it was printed.

The calendar has been put together by the Cork Dragons, a dragon boat team formed of cancer survivors.

Supporters of the project were rocked just six weeks ago when Maria Logan (53), who had been chosen to be Miss December, died.

Participants in the calendar have undergone either lumpectomy or mastectomy surgeries.

Diagnosed with cancer in 2005, Ms Logan battled the condition and it went into remission.

However, she was told last June that her cancer had returned.

Project co-ordinator Rachel Slye said that, to honour Ms Logan, her two children will play a central role in Saturday night’s gala calendar launch.

She said: “Holly (26) will wear her mother’s Miss December 2019 sash and will be escorted on to the stage by her twin brother, David, to their mother’s favourite song, Abba’s ‘Dancing Queen’.”
