Istanbul demands Saudis reveal whereabouts of Khashoggi’s body
TURKISH authorities want Saudi Arabia to tell them the whereabouts of the body of murdered journalist Jamal Khashoggi, the justice minister said yesterday.
Abdulhamit Gul added that Saudi Arabia must co-operate in the investigation into the murder of Mr Khashoggi in the Saudi consulate in Istanbul and there must be no further cover-up.
“We are looking for answers to the question of where the body is,” he said.
The Saudi government first denied Mr Khashoggi had been killed, then said he died in an unplanned “rogue operation”. Last week, the
kingdom’s public prosecutor Saud Al Mojeb admitted that the attack was premeditated.
Istanbul chief prosecutor Irfan Fidan said after talks with Mr Mojeb that Mr Khashoggi was suffocated as soon as he entered the consulate.
