Jackson’s Perpignan set for the drop after eighth loss in a row

IT’S GOING to take a miracle to prevent Paddy Jackson’s (right) Perpignan from being relegated and with almost one-third of the Top 14 campaign played, they have yet to win a match.

Their latest tough day saw them hammered 36-18 at home to Toulouse at Stade Aime Giral.

Perpignan knew they were going to struggle on their promotion back to the Top 14 after the first relegation in their history four years ago.

But eight straight defeats leave them stuck to the bottom and, with a loss and a draw in their Challenge Cup campaign so far, are unlikely to be focusing on the December clashes against Connacht.

There were five players binned – three of them from Toulouse – during the contest but a hat-trick from Antoine Dupont secured the win for the visitors who won by five tries to two.

Bordeaux-Begles, with just a draw from their two Challenge Cup games, moved up to fifth in the Top 14 with an impressive 35-13 home win over Lyon.

Meanwhile, there is a break in the English Premiership for the autumn internationals with Sale Sharks second from bottom when it resumes in a couple of weeks.
