Days don’t get better than making your debut alongside your house-mates

- TOM DALY

1. What boots do you wear?

Adidas Predator Malice.

2. What’s your pre-training routine?

A few things. Bit of stretching, switch on my glutes and quads and then do some sprints and some passing.

3. You’re in charge of the aftermatch tunes, what goes on first?

‘Dirty Old Town’ by The Pogues... but only if we win!

4. Imagine a world that you’re not a rugby player – what’s your job?

Probably a physiotherapist. I’m nearly finished my degree so it seems like the obvious choice.

5. Stranded on a desert island, what three things do you take?

Food, my phone and a little speed boat to get me off the island!

6. Which team-mate would you want with you on the island and why?

Josh Murphy. Handy to have a doctor just in case things don’t go to plan...

7. What was your favourite book as a child?

All of the Harry Potter books.

8. What’s your first sporting memory as a player or spectator and what do you remember from it?

Playing Gaelic football for my local club Ballon. I was about four playing with eight and nine year olds!

9. You have one moment from your career to do over. What is it?

For a positive reason probably my first cap for Leinster back in 2016. I scored a try 15 minutes in and it was a special day for me and my family. It would be nice to live through that moment again.

10. What rugby skill would you most like to possess?

Outrageous pace. I don’t think you can beat speed.

11. Favourite boxset/TV series?

‘Peaky Blinders’... followed closely by ‘House of Cards’.

12. What current player in your position do you most admire?

Sonny Bill Williams.

13. Who has been the biggest influence on your rugby career and why?

My Dad. He got me into the game of rugby when I was young and has always supported me since then.

14. What was your first car?

I saved up for an Audi A3 which was my first car but drove my Mum’s Toyota around for a while before that!

15. What sporting event makes your bucket list and why?

Game 7 of the NBA Finals would be unreal!

16. One minute to go in the Champions Cup final, you’re three points down and you have a penalty in front of the posts… what do you do?

Tell Johnny to put it over!

17. What was the last concert you went to?

I saw Calvin Harris in Mykonos this summer.

18. Tell us something interesting about yourself.

I am trying my very best to finish a physiotherapy masters as well as play rugby.

19. What’s your own best memory playing rugby?

It’s again my first Leinster cap in 2016 but more than that I was making my debut alongside my house-mates Peter Dooley and Adam Byrne and then the other house-mate Josh van der Flier was over in Chicago beating the All Blacks on the same day. Days don’t get much better than that.

20. Who’ll win the Gallagher Premiership in England and the Top 14 in France?

Exeter and Racing 92.

I scored a try 15 minutes in and it was a special day for me and my family
