Rectory may be manna from heaven for buyers

-

A CHRISTIAN Brothers retirement home in Baldoyle, once used as a juniorate for young men preparing for the priesthood, will prove manna from heaven for buyers with a penchant for ecclesiastical architecture.

For the first phase of Park House, Homeland Projects built new townhouses on the grounds of the protected structure, which fronts onto Dublin Street. For the second phase, which is called The Rectory and is launching this week, Homeland is retrofitting the main building to create eight apartments and own-door townhouses, with prices ranging from €395,000 to €460,000 for a two-bed apartment. A threebed penthouse, which has vaulted ceilings thanks to the conversion of a former chapel into a kitchen/diner, spans 1,787 sq ft and costs from €550,000.

The most expensive is a 1,938-sq ft three-bed townhouse, which is priced from €575,000. During the restoration, Homeland added finishing such as a contemporary kitchen and built-in wardrobes.
