Mills’ two tries help Lansdowne to victory

CAPTAIN Eamonn Mills led by example with two tries as Lansdowne registered a rare win at Tom Clifford Park, finishing 23-12 over Young Munster.

Second-placed Cork Constituti­on proved too strong for Garryowen, as Rob Jermyn’s late try sealed a 27-3 success at Temple Hill. Converted scores from JJ O’Neill and Jermyn, with a touchdown from Brian Scott, saw them bounce back from a loss to Lansdowne.

Conor Fitzgerald scored 16 points in Shannon’s 31-20 bonus-point home win over UCC. Fitzgerald got an intercept try and there were scores from Lee Nicholas, Luke Clohessy and Jack Stafford. John Poland touched down twice for UCC.

In Division 1B, Banbridge’s time at the summit lasted just a week, after tries from Lachlan Anderson and Tom Kiersey saw Old Wesley triumph 15-8 at Rifle Park.

Malone beat Buccaneers 24-23 at Dubarry Park, with Rory Campbell converting Callum Smith’s 61st-minute try.

Fionn Higgins notched two tries in Naas’ 27-14 bonus-point win at home to Ballynahin­ch, while Jack Keating claimed his fourth try of the campaign in Old Belvedere’s 29-24 success over St Mary’s.
