KFC enjoys ‘finger lickin’ good’ €39m profit
The KFC operation in Ireland and the UK enjoyed ‘finger lickin’ good’ pre-tax profits last year – increasing more than eight-fold to £34.26m (€39.25m).
New accounts lodged by Banner Dell Ltd show that the business enjoyed the soaring profits after the company received £30.9m in shares from group undertakings.
Revenues at the company last year increased by 21pc from £134.98m to £163.7m in the 55 weeks to the end of December 24 last.
The directors said the KFC franchise “continues to trade strongly”. The group operates KFC outlets throughout the Republic, the North, Scotland and England.
Operating profits last year increased by 10pc to €8.5m.
The firm paid out £5.2m in interest payments.
The directors said the group holds a substantial property portfolio throughout the UK and the Republic. The group’s shareholder funds totalled £35.68m and this included £9.44m in cash.
“At the balance sheet date, the group held investment properties totalling £69.9m.” The company last year paid out £220,000 in dividends,” the director said
Numbers employed last year rose from 2,042 to 3,466, and staff costs totalled £43.42m. Remuneration to directors was £746,612 with the highest paid director paid £397,958.
