High note
A musical treat is in store on Wednesday, November 14 when the Dublin Gospel Choir performs at Christ Church, Rathgar, Dublin to raise funds for a play area for children and adolescents undergoing cancer treatment at St Luke’s Hospital. St Luke’s is the only hospital in Ireland providing radiotherapy for children and adolescents and the young patients have daily general anaesthetics to ensure they remain completely still as laser beams target the specific part of their body. The intensive treatment is administered over a period of weeks and the play area offers much needed relief for the parents and children. The historic Christ Church, where the gig is taking place, is a beautiful venue with plenty of parking and served by Dublin Bus routes 14, 15/15A and 15B. All proceeds from this concert will go towards the play area for children, many of whom will undergo treatment this Christmas season. Tickets cost €25 and are on sale in The Friends of St Luke’s office (01 406 5314) or online at friendsofstlukes.ie and Eventbrite. The concert is from 7.30pm–9pm.
