‘Grenade’ train chaos

-

A WOMAN carrying a grenade-shaped belt buckle in her luggage on a train from Barcelona to Madrid caused havoc yesterday, forcing delays and stations to be evacuated.

A photo of the luggage scan posted on the Twitter feed of Catalonia’s Mossos police force showed what clearly looked like a grenade.

Most Spanish stations require passengers boarding trains to put luggage through scanners.

Police evacuated two highspeed trains at the Barcelona station but didn’t find anything, the spokesman said.

When police checked the luggage they found the grenade-shaped object was actually a belt buckle, a police spokeswoman said.
