Munster Under 14s for Alex Byrne
WATERFORD’S Alex Byrne birdied the last two on the Castle Course at Lahinch to win the Munster Boys U14 Amateur Open Championship by a stroke.
Playing off the white tees, he birdied the third, fourth and fifth and then followed bogeys at the 10th and 12th with birdies at the 15th and 18th, carding a threeunder 66 to pip Doncaster’s Joshua Berry and Kinsale’s Eoghan Cassidy by the slimmest of margins.
Belvoir Park’s Darcy Hogg, Co Sligo’s Sean McLoughlin and Faithlegg’s Alex King were tied fourth after level par 69s.
Cassidy’s 67 gave him the Munster U13 Close title by nine strokes from Douglas’ Jack Murphy.
