The results from the KPMG Irish Independent Property Industry Excellence Awards

MORE than 1,000 of Ireland’s leading property professionals gathered at the Convention Centre Dublin last night for the announcement of the winners of this year’s KPMG Irish Independent Property Industry Excellence Awards.

The awards, in their fourth year, saw over 120 nominations judged across 11 categories covering the broad range of professions, skills and expertise within the property sector.

The big winner last night was Irish and international construction giant SISK.

The company’s long-standing reputation for excellence in the delivery of public infrastructure, and commercial and residential property saw it come away with both the Overall Winner and Contractor of the Year awards.

In recognising SISK’s con- tribution to Ireland’s economy and society, the judging panel also noted the group’s approach to sustainability, and its focus on building trust, certainty and value for its clients.

Quite apart from its ability to deliver on major infrastructural and commercial projects, SISK is responding directly to Ireland’s housing crisis through its construction of affordable homes.

Following its return to the housebuilding market in 2016, the company indicated it can build houses and sell to local authorities at a price of around €160,000 to €170,000 per unit.

The other winners were: Bredagh Old School (Community Benefit Award), Henry J Lyons Architects (Design Project Award), Kore Insulation (Energy Efficiency Award), JLL (Commercial Agency of the Year), Savills (Residential Agency of the Year), Hibernia Reit (Property Investment/ Fund Manager of the Year), Monaghan County Council (Excellence in Planning), Shannon Commercial Properties (Regional Excellence), BAM Facilities Management (Facilities Management), Mark, Andrew and Kelly Cosgrave – Dublin Loft Company (Emerging Talent).

Commenting on the success of this year’s awards, Jim Clery, partner and head of real estate at KPMG said: “I would like to thank the many participants who entered such high-standard applications for their businesses, buildings and achievements.”

The awards are endorsed by all relevant professional institutes, representative bodies and State agencies, namely Engineers Ireland, the Irish Planning Institute, RIAI, Society of Chartered Surveyors Ireland (SCSI), CIF, IPAV, IDA Ireland, DIT, OPW, Enterprise Ireland, and the IDA.
