PREPARATIONS are well and truly under way for the 2018 Limerick Christmas Racing Festival, which takes place from Wednesday 26 until Saturday 29 December.

Mr. Binman, the Limerick headquartered waste recycling business, has come on board as the title sponsor of the popular four-day Christmas Racing Festival which is now known as the Mr. Binman Christmas Racing Festival. The company will also sponsor the Mr. Binman Handicap Steeplechase on St. Stephen’s Day.

This years’s festival boasts a much increased prize fund of over €550,000 which is a 14pc increase on last year. We also have the honour of staging our first ever Grade 1 race and the only Grade 1 race to be run in Munster as the Matchbook Betting Exchange Novice Chase on St. Stephen’s Day has been upgraded. The race is sponsored by Matchbook, a sports betting exchange community driven by cutting-edge technology and with a focus on offering value back to customers. The race, over a distance of two miles and 3½ furlongs, will be run with a significantly increased value of €100,000 this year and will be televised live on RTÉ. The Christmas Racing Festival in Limerick is one of the region’s annual highlights, attracting in excess of 40,000 patrons through the gates. A day at the races is a great way to spend time with family and friends and we have a number of hospitality packages to suit all requirements. All options are available at limerickraces. ie - please give the team a call on 061-320000 or email info@ limerickraces.ie.

Each day the action will get underway from around 12.30pm with seven races. There will be entertainment post-racing each day and we also have the Sunway Holidays Festive Most Stylish Lady competition on Friday December 28.

The Festival comes to a close on Saturday December 29 with our annual Festive Family Fun Day with lots of entertainment on offer for our younger race-goers. Wishing you and yours a very Happy Christmas and I hope you will join us at Limerick Racecourse this festive season.
