I’d love to go to the Super Bowl
1. What boots do you wear? Gilbert.
2. What’s your pre-training routine? I warm up. I’m getting old (32), so it takes that little bit longer to get going.
3. You’re in charge of the aftermatch tunes, what goes on first? Red Hot Chili Peppers, ‘Californication’.
4. Imagine a world that you’re not a rugby player – what’s your job? A banker on Wall Street.
5. Stranded on a desert island, what three things do you take? An iPhone, toilet roll and sunscreen.
6. Which team-mate would you want with you on the island and why? Cian Healy. He’d build something to get us off!
7. What was your favourite book as a child? ‘Fireman Sam’. Great read.
8. What’s your first sporting memory as a player or spectator and what do you remember from it? I went to my first Irish rugby international when I was 10 in Lansdowne Road against England. We got hammered. That’s all I remember!
9. You have one moment from your career to do over. What is it? The last three minutes against New Zealand in the Aviva in 2013.
10. What rugby skill would you most like to possess? I wouldn’t mind being 6ft 2in!
11. Favourite boxset/TV series? ‘America’s Game – NFL’.
12. What current player in your position do you most admire? Malcolm Marx. He’s a pretty decent all-rounder.
13. Who has been the biggest influence on your rugby career and why? My family and my wife Claire. My big- gest fans, even when I don’t play well!
14 What was your first car? Mitsubishi Colt.
15. What sporting event makes your bucket list and why? Super Bowl. Non-stop entertainment on and off the field.
16. One minute to go in the Champions Cup final, you’re three points down and you have a penalty in front of the posts… what do you do? Kick the penalty quickly and go again.
17. What was the last concert you went to? I went to see Mumford & Sons in the 3 Arena
18. Tell us something interesting about yourself. I played minor football for Limerick.
19. What’s your own best memory playing rugby? Beating New Zealand in Chicago and winning the Champions Cup with Leinster in 2018.
20. Who’ll win the Gallagher Premiership in England and the Top 14 in France? Saracens and Stade Francais.
