Irish foot in mouth

-

IRELAND’S unlikely autumn Grand Slam came a cropper at Murrayfield as Scotland ran out 32-10 winners.

The game was postponed due to the outbreak of foot and mouth disease in the spring and, having won the initial two games and beaten Wales in the re-fixed game, Warren Gatland’s side were two games from glory.

That they finished by beating England just enhanced the sense of missed opportunity.
