Mitchell O’Connor won’t run for MEP

MINISTER of State for Higher Education Mary Mitchell O’Connor has decided not to run for the European Parliament.

Ms Mitchell O’Connor told supporters in Dún Laoghaire last night she would “prefer to continue making a positive difference” for her constituents.

“Added to that is the fact that I genuinely love my current ministry and wish to continue to develop policy in the area,” she said, thanking her Cabinet colleagues for their support.
