The OED needs your work-related words
THE good folk at the Oxford English Dictionary are crowd-sourcing workplace jargon in the latest drive to update its catalogue. The lexicographers are asking the public to submit phrases for consideration via an online form or Twitter, using the hashtag #wordsatwork.
The best I’ve seen so far include FLK (funny looking kid) from a nurse, DSP (day shift problem) from a disgruntled night worker, and, my personal favourite, veterinarian acronym DSTO (dog smarter than owner). I’ll definitely be listening out for that one.
