ROCKVILLE, set around the eponymous 18th-century Rockville House in Kilternan, is a new development with a difference: taking inspiration from famed British horticulturist and garden designer Gertrude Jekyll, the estate’s original walled garden is being brought back to life for residents of the new scheme to enjoy.

Dermot Foley Landscape Architects is designing the walled garden in an English country manor style, complete with an original magnolia tree, sspaliering fruit trees, a sensory kitchen, and garden planting in raised beds.

Rockville launched in October with the second phase coming on stream this weekend. When finished, it will consist of 37 three, four, and five-bed houses, as well as 12 apartments and the restored Rockville House and gate lodge.

All the 16 terraced and semi-detached houses being released today are threebed homes. Prices for the mid-terraced style, which ranges in size from 1,178 sq ft to 1,547 sq ft, go from €485,000 to €545,000.

The end-of-terrace house type, which spans 1,178 sq ft, costs from €500,000, while the semi-detached design, which has between 1,352 sq ft and 1,392 sq ft of living space, is priced from €530,000 to €550,000.

The houses, set at the foot of the Dublin Mountains, have exteriors finished in brick, UPVC and dash, with woodgrain PVC windows. Inside, there are 9ft-high ceilings to the ground floor and a bespoke kitchen with quartz worktops by Dalkey-based Kelly Design. A three-bed showhouse is opening this weekend for the first time. Viewings between 12pm and 2pm today, tomorrow and Sunday.
