‘Music’ produces winning note

- Michael Fortune

A MAJOR drifter in the market, Pat Guilfoyle’s Music Toour Ears proved his doubters wrong when he was an all-the-way winner of the €20,000 Best Car Parks Gold Cup at Shelbourne.

Music Toour Ears made one of his typical flying starts from trap three and just led up the favourite Droopys Alice to the bend. Alice was cut off at this point and was forced to check wide.

Bakery Lane chased in second down the back, with Garryvoe Noah closing around the bottom, but there was no catching Music Toour Ears as he raced to the line a two-length winner from Bakery Lane in 28.33. The big-finishing Jaytee Tornado was a half a length further back in third place.

Slippy Cian, a finalist in the Irish Derby last September, made an impressive seasonal debut when winning the concluding open 550 by a wide margin in 29.33 and he will surely be a major player in the Easter Cup.
