DAN MARTIN finished in fourth place overall at the Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana in his first stage race of 2019.

The Irish rider was 16 seconds behind general classification winner Ion Izagirre of Spain after finishing safely in the bunch during yesterday’s sprint finish – which was won by Dutch rider Dylan Groenewegen.

Martin showed good form over the five-day race, finishing fifth on Saturday’s short mountain-top finish to move into the top five.
