Foley’s California dreams

IT’S over 5,000 miles from Kilkenny to Santa Anita but the trip was made worthwhile for Shane Foley when Platinum Warrior earned a victory at the California track on Saturday.

“It was well worth the travel from Ireland for this win,” said Foley, from Graignamanagh, after the 14/1 shot took the Grade Two San Marcos Stakes by three-quarters of a length.

“I let him go – let him dictate it and I knew if we turned it into a sprint, he’d sprint away,” he added. Earlier in the night, True Valour was a Group Three winner for Simon Callaghan under Andrea Atzeni at 9/1.
