Ramos in hot water again after elbow on Messi in El Clasico loss

- Ryan Corry

REAL MADRID captain Sergio Ramos (pictured) is under fire once more after appearing to elbow Lionel Messi in the latest instalment of El Clasico on Saturday night.

Barca were left fuming at the break as referee Alberto Mallenco allowed play to continue after the incident in Barca’s 1-0 win at the Bernabeu, but their coach Ernesto Valverde would not be drawn on the incident.

“Leo is fine, he has made a great effort, like everyone,” he said. “The referee? I have not seen anything on TV and I have no idea. It has been a hard, difficult game, a Clasico.”

It was a tough day for Wales’ Gareth Bale who was replaced on the hour mark to a chorus of boos once again.

Real now drop into third – 12 points behind Barca and five adrift of Atletico Madrid, who beat Real Sociedad 2-0 thanks to goals from loan signing Alvaro Morata.

In Germany, Bayern Munich have managed to draw level on 54 points with Borussia Dortmund at the summit of the Bundesliga.

The Bavarians thumped Borussia Monchengladbach 5-1 to capitalise on Dortmund’s 2-1 defeat to Augsburg.

The Black and Yellow will need a major turnaround in fortunes tomorrow night when they welcome Spurs for the return leg of their Champions League last-16 tie.

In France, Paris Saint-Germain were almost made to regret resting a host of firstteam stars ahead of the visit of Manchester United on Wednesday.

They trailed Caen 1-0 early in the second half, but a brace from Kylian Mbappe sealed the three points for the Ligue 1 leaders.

In Serie A, Napoli are even further adrift of runaway leaders Juventus after a 2-1 defeat to them last night.

In the opening half, Juventus built up a two-goal and one-man advantage through Miralem Pjanic and Emre Can as Napoli goalkeeper Alex Meret was given his marching orders.

Pjanic was then dismissed in the second half, sparking a revival for the Naples side.

Jose Callejon pulled one back soon after but Lorenzo Insigne spurned a chance to equalise from the spot late on.
