Rovers rally to Mills Cup glory

-

THREE ROCK ROVERS claimed an incredible tenth piece of frontline silverware since 2017 as they produced a devastating comeback to beat Glenanne 4-2 at Grange Road in the Mills Cup final.

The Glen started in dreamlike fashion as Jerome Saeys converted a seventh-minute drag-flick and Brad Venter slammed home on the turn for a 2-0 lead by the 18th minute.

However, Rovers hit back with Jody Hosking, Ben Walker, Harry Morris and Mark English striking without reply to triumph.

Later at the same venue, Railway Union continued their love affair with the Jacqui Potter Cup as they clung on to beat Old Alex 2-1 and claim their sixth Leinster senior title in nine seasons.

Kate McKenna’s 45th-minute goal settled the tie after Aine Connery had cancelled out Hannah de Burgh Whyte’s opener.

TEAM SKY won Paris-Nice for the sixth time in eight years as Egan Bernal clung on to his yellow jersey in yesterday’s final stage.

Carrick-on-Suir’s Sam Bennett withdrew from the race on Saturday as he prepares for next Saturday’s Milan-San Remo.
