:: Saturday:

In the early hours, FAI officials believe that John Delaney will officially be on the way out by Monday after talks which had accelerate­d the previous evening. Mr Delaney tells friends that his time with the associatio­n is up.

:: Sunday:

The FAI receives legal advice ahead of discussion­s with Mr Delaney that changes its position heading into talks with the former CEO turned-executive vice president.

:: Monday:

After discussion­s at Dublin’s Carlton Airport Hotel involving legal representa­tives on both sides, Mr Delaney ‘voluntaril­y steps aside’ from his FAI brief. Board members Michael Cody (below) and Eddie Murray resign. FAI representa­tives leave for an urgent meeting with Sport Ireland.

:: Tuesday:

Ahead of the appearance of Sport Ireland and Sports Minister Shane Ross at an Oireachtas committee, it emerges Deloitte has reported the FAI for two alleged breaches of company law related to the keeping of accounts. Mr Ross announces the entire FAI board have indicated they will resign.

:: Wednesday:

FAI officials meet in Abbotstown to plan the next step with an EGM on the cards to formalise the handover; a joint committee with Sport Ireland will decide the timeline. Talks are also held with the players’ union (PFAI), long-term critics of Mr Delaney.

:: Thursday:

It emerges Mr Delaney is in Germany with the Leinster FA youth interprovi­ncial side. The FAI states he is not representi­ng it in any capacity this week.

:: Friday:

Waterford announce they are taking legal advice and seeking compensati­on as they feel they were ‘misled’ by the FAI in talks about whether they would qualify for a Uefa licence this year.
