Dolan secures win with last-gasp free
GLENCAR/MANORHAMILTON captain Conor Dolan snatched victory with a converted free four minutes into added time at the end of an entertaining final in Carrick– on-Shannon yesterday.
The game changer was Patrick Guckian’s decision to dismiss Ballinamore’s Donal Feely in the 30th minute following a sideline incident.
Earlier, Ballinamore had raced into a 0-5 to 0-1 lead following Wayne McKeon’s point straight from the throw-in. However, Glencar steadied the ship and registered 0-7 without reply.
Two pointed frees by McKeon and Killian McHugh reduced the arrears but once again Glencar/ Manorhamilton responded with two of their own.
Two points from play by Fergal Rooney and Adrian Croal on the resumption extended the Glencar/Manorhamilton lead but Ballinamore fought back with a brace of points each by McKeon and Luke Murphy. It was left to Dolan to send over the winner.
