Cúl Camps to start in clubs from July 20
THE GAA has confirmed that the popular Kellogg’s Cúl Camps will go ahead from
July 20, phase four of the Government’s easing of restrictions following the Covid-19 emergency.
A list of all venues will be confirmed on the Cúl Camp website gaa.ie/kelloggsculcamps on June 22 when bookings reopen.
Numbers are expected to be restricted because of current circumstances but the gear associated with the camp will be made available, subject to availability, to those who are not in a position to attend. Over 4,000 had already registered and they will be given the option of a refund, purchase of gear only or full participation.
The cost will be €65 for the first child, €55 for a second child and €50 for a third child (£55, £50 and £45 in Northern Ireland). Prior to the recommencement, TG4 will air a GAA Cúl Camp programme for three weeks from Monday, June 29 to Friday, July 17. Produced by Waterford-based Nemeton and presented by Gráinne Bleasdale, it will run from 10.25am to 11.0am and repeat from 5.15pm that evening, as well as being available on the TG4 player. The series will include skills, drills, games, nutrition, and wellness segments from All-Ireland-winning Cork camogie and football star Rena Buckley, Dublin hurler Liam Rushe (pictured) and former Donegal footballer Kevin Cassidy.
Meanwhile, TG4 has commenced a ‘Reeling In The Years’ style programme, ‘GAA Gold,’ looking back at the games in the 1980s.
Airing from 5.40pm on Sunday evenings and repeating again from 8.30pm on Monday evenings, this weekend will feature 1981 when Offaly made their big hurling breakthrough and Mick O’Dwyer’s great Kerry team landed a fourth successive All-Ireland football title.
