KENNY ON . . .

AARON CONNOLLY

“I think that he can play across the front three. He has not played as the lone striker up front that much although he has done it with Brighton a couple of times. We have watched a lot of Aaron and his close control with his back to goal is actually exceptional. He really looks after the ball, he is not just a fellow who runs in behind.”

JEFF HENDRICK

“He’s been playing wide on the right for a long period. And he would view himself as a central player. Covid has impacted his situation probably, in terms of going anywhere I’d say (the question was related to Italian options). He’s in the prime of his career and he’s a free agent. So he won’t be short options, that’s for sure. I don’t know where he’s going or what he has planned now. That’s his private business. But I think he’d be keen to play in a central area and focus on that.”

GLENN WHELAN

“Glenn has had a great career for Ireland. I watched the two (Fleetwood) games in the (League One) play-offs. You can’t discount younger players or older players. We’ll make decisions closer to the time. Obviously Glenn has had a great career and I’ve got great respect for him. So we’ll see.”

ROBBIE BRADY

“He is a versatile player and that’s a good thing. The lack of game-time and his injury meant he wasn’t as explosive as he had been. He’s been utilised as a wide player, but he’s also quite effective as a left-sided midfield player, in a central three. He’s been a bit unfortunate but we won’t lose faith in him. We believe in him and hopefully he can get games between now and the end of the season.”

JAMES McCARTHY

“I spoke to him and the injury seems to be behind him, please God. He’s played consistently for Crystal Palace this year. He’s a terrific player.”
