MUNSTER RATINGS

- Compiled by Rúaidhrí O’Connor

MIKE HALEY

7

Never really got a chance to run at Leinster, but his positioning was on point and some of his kicks were excellent.

KEITH EARLS

6

Harried with his chasing game, but Munster just couldn’t find a way to bring him into the game when they needed his running threat.

CHRIS FARRELL

6

Worked hard and did the physical stuff, but wasn’t able to really have an influence on the attack and was marshalled well by Ringrose.

DAMIAN de ALLENDE

6

May never have played in worse conditions and he took the game to Leinster without ever breaking free. Late knock-on summed up his frustration.

SHANE DALY

6

Always looks composed in possession, but like the other outside backs he spent most of his night chasing.

JJ HANRAHAN

5

Hauled ashore after 54 minutes, once again his missed kicks proved costly. Just not accurate or consistent enough

CONOR MURRAY

8

Nailed on to start for Ireland after an imperious performance. His box-kicking was superb while he was a calming influence on those around him.

JAMES CRONIN

5

Started strongly at scrum-time, but his influence waned and while he made all his tackles his discipline was poor.

RHYS MARSHALL

4

Picked ahead of Kevin O’Byrne and Niall Scannell and didn’t justify it. A nightmare at lineout and lucky not to be sin-binned.

JOHN RYAN

7

Solid as a rock at the scrum and busy around the pitch, this was a solid shift from the Ireland tighthead.

JEAN KLEYN

6

His work-rate is unquestioned, it is the quality of that work that doesn’t convince. Outshone by the other second rows.

TADHG BEIRNE

9

In the form of his life and surely primed for a starting spot against Wales. The only question is what jersey to hand him.

GAVIN COOMBES

7

While he wasn’t a stand-out performer, the Skibbereen lad didn’t look out of place in this company and he put his size to good use.

PETER O’MAHONY

8

Injury forced him off when the game was in the melting pot, but he was a big influence on proceedings despite the knock.

CJ STANDER

6

His 150th appearance was one of his quietest in a red jersey. Carried into a blue wall all day to little effect.

BENCH IMPACT

5

While Leinster’s subs played a key role in their win, Munster’s bench didn’t come on and affect the game to any great degree. Fineen Wycherley’s offside was costly, while Niall Scannell couldn’t fix the lineout.

COACH: JOHANN VAN GRAAN

7

Must be frustrated that his plan worked but the players couldn’t take their chances. Selection of Marshall back-fired, but he got a lot right.
