LEINSTER RATINGS
HUGO KEENAN
8
Without ever looking particularly threatening, the UCD man always finds holes and his solidity in the air was a comfort on a tough night.
JORDAN LARMOUR
7
An enigmatic night for the most dangerous runner on the pitch who scored the all-important try but failed to deal with Conor Murray’s kicks.
GARRY RINGROSE
7
Like everyone, it was an imperfect night but after a lay-off he was quietly efficient and dangerous when the ball came his way.
ROBBIE HENSHAW
8
One poor kick aside, Henshaw was a key figure in the way Leinster worked their way into the game. Excellent footwork stood out.
JIMMY O’BRIEN
6
Wasn’t really able to impose himself on the game and much of the traffic went down the other wing before he picked up an injury.
JOHNNY SEXTON
6
Another hamstring strain curtailed his involvement. Cut a frustrated figure at times, but kept probing and kicked his goals.
LUKE McGRATH
8
Brought great control to Leinster’s play at times. One poor kick shouldn’t take away from a strong performance.
CIAN HEALY
6
Part of an inconsistent scrum effort, he was quiet with ball in hand but put himself about at the ruck and maul.
SEÁN CRONIN
6
A quiet night for the Limerickman on his return to Thomond Park. One five-metre lineout miss will really grate.
ANDREW PORTER
8
Discipline slipped at times, but he goes into the Six Nations in really good shape after an impressively physical 80 minutes.
SCOTT FARDY
7
Justified his selection with a calmly impressive outing as James Ryan’s foil. Got in Munster’s faces, did his work with efficiency. JAMES RYAN
9
Terrorised Rhys Marshall in the game’s key battle, while he made an outstanding 29 tackles and carried hard to boot.
RHYS RUDDOCK
7
A typically industrious display, doing most of his work in the tight as he made hard yards and did his defensive duties. WILL CONNORS
7
Showed up big when Leinster needed to play their way into the game, taking the ball at pace and challenging Munster’s defenders.
CAELAN DORIS
8
A silly penalty concession could have proved costly, but largely this was another effective display from Ireland’s No 8.
BENCH IMPACT
8
Ross Byrne came on for Sexton and ran the show brilliantly, creating the all-important try with a deft kick. Ross Molony was excellent, while the forward subs all contributed and Jamison Gibson-Park did well on the wing.
COACH: LEO CULLEN
7
An untidy start will frustrate Cullen, but he can be pleased that his team rose to the stiff challenge posed by Munster and found a way through.
