POETRY IN MOTION

- BY RYAN MCELLIOTT

JOSEPH O’BRIEN’S Slowmotion makes most appeal in the featured Grade 2 Charleville Cheese EBF Mares Novice Chase at Limerick.

This filly (left) was a talented hurdler last term and her recent efforts would suggest that she is progressing nicely over fences.

She comes here off a clear cut victory at Naas while the step up in distance looks sure to suit her well.

In the mares’ novice hurdle, Kate Appleby Shoes, a former course winner, looks the one to side with on her favoured testing ground.

Her form makes for impressive reading as she ran second to the Cheltenham runner-up Barra on her penultimate start.

Then last time out at Clonmel she got home by a head from Awayinthewest, who franked the form with a good run at Cheltenham on Thursday.

That level of form looks to put her on a different level to these opponents.

In the opener, Fit To Be Tied has a good chance of opening his account.

He has shown a reasonable level of ability on his three starts to date and will progress for this longer trip.

Donegal Tuesday absolutely bolted up at Gowran last weekend, which makes her the choice in the handicap hurdle.

Oscar Lantern has yet to match his best hurdling form since being sent over fences, but his last run at Clonmel was more encouraging.

In the concluding beginners’, Double Scores get the vote.

His form over fences so far would suggest that he is up to making his mark here.
