JOSE’S MOAN GOAL...

-

I WAS laughing when I saw people buying into Jose Mourinho’s moaning this week.

Jose (below) knows how to manipulate the media and the fans to turn the attention away from any failings – and on to an agenda of his choosing instead.

I’ll spell it out: what he’s doing by moaning about the lack of support United get from the Premier League going into Europe, is putting all things on him rather than his players.

They didn’t play well in the Europa League, didn’t go through convincingly, but the debate isn’t about United’s quality, it’s about this ‘campaign’ against them. That’s smart. But I don’t buy the idea that players can’t cope with the demands of three games a week.

When I was playing, I’d much prefer to play FOUR games a week and not train (cue everyone pointing out that I never liked training).

It’s about a balance, about giving the right sort of rest and recovery between the games, but come on, Manchester United are the richest club in the world, and they have a massive squad.

Believe me, Mourinho will pick his best team for every game, and if someone is knackered he’ll pick someone else. It’s not the problem he makes out. But then I always said he’s a smart manager. I WAS delighted for Jermain Defoe when he got his England call-up – it should have happened much sooner.

It’s been so long since he was in the squad, and for me that’s a huge surprise.

Look at what he’s done at Sunderland. They’d be down already without him.

He’s a proper striker, and I’m made-up for him. I don’t go along with all this nonsense about his age.

If you’re good enough you’re young enough.
