Inquiry into scream rape trial acquittal
ITALY’S justice minister last night vowed to investigate after a man was cleared of rape because the woman did not scream.
A Turin court last month ruled the woman saying “enough” to her alleged attacker was not a strong enough reaction to prove she’d been assaulted.
The alleged victim is reportedly now facing charges for slander and the ruling has caused outrage across the country.
Opposition MP Annagrazia Calabria said: “Certainly you cannot punish the personal reaction of a woman terrified by what is happening to her.”
Ministry inspectors will now look into the case.
