back to a fantastic match at the Etihad last Sunday made me have a Footballer of the Year rethink. It is hard to recall a passing masterclass of the quality shown by David Silva. This is Silva’s seventh season in the Premier League and he has never been anything

but a joy to watch, yet only once has he made the PFA Team of the Year and only once won a Player of the Month award.

The awards will go to one of the outstanding individuals in the country’s outstanding team, N’golo Kante or Eden Hazard.

But, for his body of work since 2010, no one would be more worthy of recognition than Silva.
