Garda boss has to bite bullet and go

-

GARDA chief Noirin O’sullivan has refused to step down despite the latest scandal to hit the force in recent times.

Breaking her silence on the fake breath tests and penalty points blunder she admitted more examples of bad practice were “inevitable”.

Commissioner O’sullivan said an overhaul of the system was under way, adding, “We’re looking at a problem that goes back more than a decade”.

She made the remarks after details of almost 15,000 wrongful traffic convictions and false claims of 937,000 drink-drive tests emerged.

But despite people calling for her to step down from her position she has refused and says she can improve the force.

One must ask just how many scandals Ms O’sullivan must face before she resigns.
