Refugee in tragic death near Cannes
A Uk-bound migrant has been found burnt to death in Cannes – close to where celebrities promoted films about the refugee crisis.
The “almost unrecognisable body” of the unidentified 30-year-old man was found hidden in the roof of a train on Friday night.
French police said three other men ran away.
A source said: “All were migrants who had boarded at Ventimiglia in Italy.
“The victim had been electrocuted while trying to remain hidden. Cause of death was cardiac arrest.”
The tragedy came hours after Vanessa Redgrave screened her documentary about migrants – Sea Sorrow – at the festival.
