Search for actor to play Phil on film

- BY SYLVIA POWNALL

Phil Lynott OPEN auditions were held in Dublin yesterday to find someone to play Phil Lynott on the big screen.

Producers are looking for an actor/singer aged 18 to 35 to play the Thin Lizzy rocker in a documentary about his rise to stardom.

Six-time Oscar nominee Jim Sheridan and awardwinning documentary maker Colm Quinn are working on the project.

My Left Foot director Sheridan said: “Having known Phil, and loving his music from the very start, it’s a great honour to celebrate his life and work on the big screen.

“I see this as a non-fiction movie, one meant for the cinema and I can’t wait to start the process of finding our modern day rocker.”
