€690k battle of Hyde Park blastfamilies

- BY MIRROR REPORTER

Hyde Park RELATIVES of victims of the IRA’S 1982 Hyde Park bomb appealed yesterday for help to fund their quest for justice.

They spoke out after marching through London as they seek €690,000 to launch a civil prosecution against suspect John Downey, 65.

Four Royal Household Cavalry soldiers died and 31 bystanders were injured in the blast. Seven horses were also killed.

An Old Bailey trial of Mr Downey, who denied involvment in the blast, collapsed in 2014.

Mark Tipper, 57, whose brother was killed, said: “The only people who can help us are Joe Public.”

British army veterans also laid wreaths yesterday to those who died.
