Q A
Space memorabilia prices have soared
I have a commemorative set of hankies relating to Neil Armstrong, the first man to set foot on the moon. They are in excellent condition. Have they any value?
Denise Hirst, via email Space memorabilia is popular and this is a fascinating, expanding market. Wise investments now could prove profitable in the future. Some of the highest figures paid out have been for replica models of famous craft, some made as movie props, which can command more than €11,000. Actual suits worn in space start at tens of thousands because of their historic importance and rarity. Pieces from all the Apollo missions are highly collectable. Yours, from Apollo 11 in 1969, is a rare example of popular commemorative items and was made by Delamare. I think you could get collectors interested at €60-110.
