Gers boss Pedro is all smiles
RANGERS manager Pedro Caixinha was hugely encouraged by his side’s 1-1 friendly draw against Marseille at Ibrox.
Fabio Cardoso and substitute Alfredo Morelos had efforts saved by the French team’s goalkeeper before Rangers were caught on the break as Valere Germain netted the opener midway through the second half.
But Niko Kranjcar earned Rangers a draw with a welltaken free-kick.
Caixinha told Rangers TV: “I really liked the team, especially in the first half or the first hour of the game. They were really compact and controlled the game, and understood how to face a team like that.
“The only thing we were missing, like all the games we have played so far, was the definition. We created a lot of chances but we could not score.”
With Wes Foderingham in goal, Bruno Alves started alongside James Tavernier, Cardoso and Lee Wallace in defence with Ryan Jack, Graham Dorrans, Daniel Candeias and Kranjcar in midfield behind Kenny Miller and Eduardo Herrera.
