BLUES MANAGER OPENS UP ON THE TURMOIL

The Chelsea manager insisted he was desperate to stay, but was left shattered by last season’s title success and wanted to see if the Blues were on board with his long-term vision for the club.

Conte clearly got enough assurances for him to move his wife Elisabetta and daughter Vittoria to London, as they stayed behind in Italy last term.

But Conte, while playing down suggestion­s he nearly quit after rows about transfers, was concerned about the depth of his squad.

And he insists that, unless they add more quality, then he cannot achieve his vision of building a dynasty of success at Stamford Bridge.

He said: “My family is very important. It will show my commitment with the club, with this project as I try to build something important. “I must be honest, last season was very tough.
