Tributes pour in for ultimate cult character actor Stanton
TRIBUTES were last night paid to iconic character actor Harry Dean Stanton who died age 91.
The Hollywood favourite appeared in classic films such as Cool Hand Luke and Paris, Texas as well as TV series Twin Peaks, Two and a Half Men and Rawhide. He passed away peacefully at Cedars Sinai Medical Center in LA.
Twin Peaks director and co-creator David Lynch was one of the first to pay tribute to Stanton, whose career spanned six decades. He said: “He was a great actor, actually beyond great.” Stanton was known for his hangdog expression and laconic charm, and possibly best known as drifter Travis Henderson in Wim Wenders’ Paris, Texas, which was written for him. Other film performances included Pretty in Pink, The Godfather Part Two and Alien.
